Outdoor education
We have a robust outdoor education program at Connections that supports students in building confidence, increasing flexibility and tolerance, and developing environmental awareness. We strive to create outdoor experiences that promote social, emotional, and physical health and wellness. With a philosophy of “challenge by choice,” students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and try new things. Our outdoor education program includes fishing, hiking, and kayaking trips to state parks around Atlanta and culminates with an overnight camping trip each May.
Throughout the year on Fridays, students rotate through adventures such as rock climbing, ropes courses, and care for horses. We are grateful to our partners and friends at Wall Crawlers, Sojourn Adventures, Stride Ahead Equine-Assisted Therapy, and Trees Atlanta for helping us provide such fun and meaningful growth opportunities for our students. If your organization is interested in partnering with us to provide outdoor experiences and education or host us for a community service project, please email our Outdoor Education Coordinator at smcinaney@connectionsschool.org.
